Our Story

mary saby himalayas teaThe Story of Himalayas Tea

I am Maryam, founder of Himalayas Tea - a business I built out of my love from growing up amongst family owned farms filled with herbs, fruits and aromatic plants.

I was born in Maragheh, surrounded by beautiful fertile landscapes producing many varieties of fruit such as grapes, apples, pears, peaches, cherries, melon and much more. My father, Abdoul-Hamid, was one of the greatest landowners and one of the most famous merchants who produced and exported fruit, dried fruit and nuts. He became a tea specialist and began importing loose leaf blends from India.

My brothers had no interest in my father’s business, whilst I shared his passion and excitement for tea. Once I completed my studies, I travelled and visited tea exhibitions and cafes all over the world, collecting research on the varieties and benefits.

Himalayas Tea was created to share my love and knowledge for the importance and versatility of herbal tea. We currently have a collection of over 200 varieties of loose leaf, where each blend has been hand-picked and checked to ensure the quality is of the highest grade.

We don’t believe tea is just a beverage you have to start the day, it’s a source of energy, a spice and has a number of endless health benefits. We believe drinking tea is an experience, one that should be enjoyed and savoured.

What our customers say about us:

“Himalayas Teas are one of the only teas that look exotic, beautiful, smell fresh just out of garden and tastes delicious.”

“Similar to French wine, Himalayas teas are product of luxury and quality.”

"We had a lovely afternoon, I was very surprised as I'm more a wine lover than a tea lover, and can honestly say that initially I wasn't exactly enthusiastic about this experience. However, the minute we walked through the door all that changed, we were made to feel welcome. As mentioned earlier my drink of choice is red wine, today I discovered that I now have another, Rooibos nut with ice......

This was a great experience, in a warm, relaxed atmosphere. So much so that I'm going to book again ...Well done you've definitely got it right"

Sue Robson

"We really enjoyed our afternoon tea tasting. I learnt so much about the different types of tea and the differences between them. The different health benefits and how to brew correctly. The hosts were warm and friendly and there was a fantastic choice of teas to buy. An ideal gift for any tea lover."

Jen Sarah Neely

"This is my third visit and I can say that I learn something everytime. The afternoon tea is lovely and the blending session is insightful and fun. Maryam and her second hand man are great hosts and you will certainly leave with a blend that will have your tastebuds dancing for joy."
